Originally from Sydney, Dee worked with the crème de la crème of local musicians but living in the US for 10 yrs enabled her to immerse herself in the music of Black America which is her greatest influence and deepest love.
Ms Lavell released her Blues & Soul album entitled ‘Mama Told Me’ and in 2012 was been nominated for North Coast Dolphin Awards and Australian Chain Blues awards. She has recently returned from the US where she took part in the very 1st Women in Blues International Live Recording in Clarksdale, Mississippi."
Personifying soul, passion and charisma, Dee Lavell might be a resonably new name on the Australian blues scene, but she’s definitely not the new kid on the block.

I've just returned from a month in the US - I was a part of an Intnl Women in Blues recording in Clarksdale, MS - it was a phenomenal experience. It included staying and recording at the Hopson Plantation, Clarksdale, MS. There will be a CD released later in the year. I also attended the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.....it was awesome. I even met Muddy Waters son, Big Bill Morganfield .....so I'm so inspired and am working on some new songs.
